about me...
from my heart...
what || where || when
Marianne explored her creative abilities through many artistic forms from an early age. After graduating high school, she enrolled as a fashion design student where she graduated with honors.
Her design ambitions won her a national tender to design the clothing ensemble for employees and representatives of Namibia Wildlife Resorts.
After a detour working in the hospitality industry with her husband for over 13 years, she decided to go back to her creative roots and opened her Expressive Arts facilitation studio.
Influenced by her love for paper, nature and fashion, she works predominantly in mixed media and hand-cut (analogue) recycled magazine collage, creating whimsical postcard art as well as more reflective pieces.
She currently lives and works as a Montessori
Pre-school Teacher and Expressive Process Arts Facilitator in Swakopmund, Namibia.
I believe art has the ability to heal the wounds of the soul, when practiced intuitively, using art as a mirror, can we begin to center the body, focus the mind and open the heart to respond to the world around us with understanding and compassion.
My artistic philosophy is based on the belief we should not be limited by products and techniques, for it is within the lack of availability that we learn to think creatively.
There is so much beauty in the world, images do speak a 1000 words and we can manipulate them to speak much more!
My art is an escape, it is my refuge and my heart's resting place, I find solace in the pages of an old book and get child-like giddy at the site of images that can become...something else
Getting creative, making, cutting and pasting is my play, my therapy and my selfcare philosophy.
